Home Town Stamps

The objective of this project is to design a series of collector stamps celebrating the rich history, culture, and significance of Kidderminster, the birthplace of the stamp and also my home town. The goal is to capture the essence of Kidderminster, incorporating elements of its history, culture, and landmarks. These stamps will serve as both a celebration of the town’s heritage and a personal reflection of my connection to Kidderminster.

Design Concepts

For the first design, I decided to make a combination of the most iconic buildings in Kidderminster. I went for a simple geometric design so it would still be recognisable when small but also be powerful when blown up big.

I feel like the composition of this design is really interesting as it gives each building its own place but also comes together as a whole summing up Kidderminster.

i asked some people from home their opinions on it and they could all name all of the buildings just from a sketch.

To represent the wyre forest, I decided to do a snippet of the woods, keeping with the geometrical style. I wanted to have a lot of layers like I did with the mixture of buildings to keep some consistency within the stamps. as I am planning on having a black background on the stamps I made it at nighttime to keep with the theme.

I wanted to include the seven valley in the stamp design as it brings a lot of people into the town, as these stamps are a kind of promotional material for the town and are recognisable to a lot of people, I thought it would work well for promotion.
